Associate Professor Jimmy Namangale obtained his Doctorate as well as Masters degree in Statistics from Sheffied University in UK, and BSc (Hons) in Mathematics from University of Malawi. He specialied in stochastic processes with focus on Queueing Theory. He teaches Proabability and Distribution Theory, Inferential Statistics, Multivariate Data Analyisis, Experimental Desgns, Statistical Quality Control, and Generalized Linear Models in the Masters in Biostatistics programme. He has successfully supervised 3 masters students in the Biostatics programme; Gracious Hamuza, Tsirizani Kaombe, and Joel Ng'oma who have since graduated, he is also supervising 2 more masters students and co-supervising 1 PhD student. While at Chancellor College, he has served as Dean of Faculty of Science, Head of Mathematical Sciences Department, and Director of NAREC project.
He is interested in promoting mathematics and science, and conservation of natural resources. His research interests are in promoting the application of statistics to all fields of study including information technology, public health, Education, social sciences and biological sciences apart from statistics.
